Introduction
At the beginning of July 2009, we received to go ahead from Mark Emmert, V'Ella Warren, Eric Godfrey and Kelli Trosvig to create a UW focused iPhone App. This app will be developed by the same company that wrote similar apps for Stanford, Duke, Texas A&M, UCSD and others. As you will see the app is broken up into a number of different topic area, including:
* Directory - access to our phone/email directory with click to call or email
* Courses - online course catalog and potential integration with scheduling, etc
* Events - events calendar
* Athletics - sports news, schedules, scores and more
* Maps - campus maps with search, current location, pictures and eventually more dynamic content
* Video - easily access video content from our YouTube and iTunesU channels
* News - organized access to UW news and information
* Photos - not only campus pictures, but potential for viewing images from our archives, museums and libraries.
This project will be implemented in phases with a very aggressive time line with the first release candidate planned for the beginning of August.

Current Status Update
A lot of progress has been made since the last update. Below are some key status updates:
- The contract has been signed by both parties. Original dates in the contract was to have a build to the App store by 8/14. This is likely to slip as we are waiting for the latest build from BB.
- We have a Google doc from BB for tracking bugs in our tests. You can find it at:http://spreadsheets.google.com/a/u.washington.edu/ccc?key=0Ahcfxfu-B_gzdGhmZ3czSkZ1bHFfbXo1b1R0bWZzclE&hl=en
- We have received a test build from BB and installed it on 10 or so phones for testing. Many updates have come via updates on the BB side without a new build.
- There are still some items that will require an updated build to test. We are waiting for that.
- The OIM team has put in a lot of work in updating the coursed web service to meet the requirements and deadlines for this project. The latest changes are currently available on a dev server and should go into production on are about 8/12.
- New feeds were provided by UWTV for their video content. We have also included many of the UW oriented youtube feeds in the video app. There is still an open bug in the video app.
- The news module is nearly complete, there is still an open bug.
- Maps has received some updates, we expect those to be visible with the next test build from BB
- Marketing and Athletics are working on some wallpapers.
- TheDaily has supplied a photo feed for the images app (which will also host our wallpapers mentioned above)
- Althletics seems to be working well.
- m.UW is the candidate name for the app. We are still waiting for a nod from Marketing on this use.
