DON'T USE THE GRID FOR CONTACT INFORMATION- ASK KARALEE, YUZO, AND EUNSUK ABOUT CURRENT CONTACTS... The grid is not the source at the moment.
UPDATE ON ECONOMIES
Australia: Matt is in charge of this group. They have sent a generic presentation (and have been asked for revision) health and tech contacted connected. PNG is traveling there. Emi has connected with PNG about travel.
*Who from Australia will be attending the AG meeting in BC? Karalee will contact Andrew about extending an invitation to the symposium.
*Yuzo to send information about Health contact people from Australia and PNG to Emi so that she can contact them.
Brunei: Good presentation. Self funded travel to Singapore
Canada: They have said that they will have their presentation and a health contact next week. All is set with Jane the tech contact.
China: They have not been responsive lately because their proposed presenter has been on a business trip. Cernet is confirmed as the tech. (The venue is sorted out, but they have not tested)
Indonesia: There are 4 planning on attending in Singapore, however only two can be funded. There was some question as to if they would be able to participate in the Q and A portion of the symposium? EunSuk is the Indonesia contact person.
Japan: Tech updates: they are good to go. They've tested. It is now okay to connect the health to the tech contacts. There has been confirmation that the health contacts will be contacted. Debbie will update the wiki with the tech contact from Japan.
Korea: Good presentation. Health and tech connected.
Malaysia: They have not sent in a presentation and have not confirmed that they will be presenting. EunSuk has been trying to contact person to attend in
Singapore. They know that they have to go and are trying to figure out who will attend. (Train or bus to Singapore)
Mexico: Health is waiting on their presentation. (Yuzo is pinging them.) The tech contact is to be self identified, but Yuzo has not heard back. Yuzo is trying to get some telephone numbers for the health contacts to that he can try to contact them via the phone.
New Zealand: Eun Suk has been in touch with health. The health contact said that he hasn't heard back about how he would be able to participate. The tech contact has been not very responsive, so we should follow up to see if he's heard from the tech contact. Health contact cannot participate because he is traveling, but we need to know if there is someone else who can. Ari will call the N.Z. tech contact to follow up. Eun Suk will follow up to find out if there is a health contact that will be able to participate.
Papua New Guinea: They have a good final presentation. Emi is working with them on the travel to Australia. APEC has yet to approve the airline and the charges.
Peru: They sent in a generic presentation and have been asked for a revision (which is pending). The health and tech contacts have now been connected. There are currently two techs that say they have the sight. Gladys (health) has indicated that she will be going to where Jose is. (USPH is out... Leslie's sight has not been as successful.)
Philippians: Health and tech connected. No presentation at this point.
Singapore: They have sent an initial presentation in PDF form, but we are waiting for a final draft. They know that Indonesia and Malaysia (maybe) will be attending. Tech contact has been doing the testing.
Taipei: Presentation is in progress and Eun Suk in charge of this group.
Thailand: Health and tech still need to be connected, but the tech that has been self-identified seems to be pretty good. The first person referred Ari to another contact that has not yet responded. There are a few questions about charges (facility charge of $200 per hour). Louis and Ann Marie do not want to spend the money on this, so it will be up to Thailand health to pay the bill. Yuzo will bring this us with Koji.
US: Health and Tech have been connected. Presenter who was supposed to be Seattle, King County let us know that he couldn't get anyone. Ann Marie wants someone outside of academia.
Viet Nam: They have on health contact and Matt has been working on working to contact them. Ari emailed tech contact but hasn't gotten a response. There is someone from WHO that has been asking about whom the contact person and what the venue will be (which we don't know).
OTHER TOPICS
International Phone Calls: Is there a telephone access code that we can use to make these calls? There is an individual assigned number. Ann Marie has one. It might be a good idea to buy calling cards and get reimbursed.
Dr. David Nabaro: he's going to try to make it, but he's not sure.
Food:
Sherry is going to take charge of this.
There is no money for food.
NO food in 220 (overflow room).
Maybe we could have pizza at 4 or 4:30 for the people in 320 (actively involved in symposium).
In the tiny study room in 320, we will have snacks throughout the evening. Also, it might be good to provide bottled water and coffee (if Carl wants coffee) or tea. WHO IS GOING TO BE IN 320??? We will need a list of specific names so that we know how much food to get. (We should know more next week about who will be there.) We should tentatively plan on snacks for 20.
The "Dry Run" scheduled for next Thursday is a tech only thing.
