Below abc is your userid and xyz is your group.

Method 1

If you do not need regular updates to Mathematica follow below steps.

ssh -X abc@mox.hyak.uw.edu

First get a build node. A build node has connectivity to the internet and can access the Wolfram web-site to download paclets which are then installed in  the ~/.Mathematica directory.

srun -p build  --time=1:00:00 --mem=100G  --pty /bin/bash

module load mathematica_11.2

mathematica

Goto Edit -> Preferences -> Internet and Mail

Uncheck "Automatically check for documentation updates"

Uncheck "Automatically check for data updates"

Uncheck "Allow the Wolfram system to access the internet"

Exit the build node and go to your own nodes using below steps:

srun -p xyz  --time=4:00:00 --mem=100G  --pty /bin/bash

module load mathematica_11.2

mathematica

Next time you do not need to first get the build node.

Method 2

If you  need regular updates to Mathematica follow below steps.

ssh -X abc@mox.hyak.uw.edu

First get a build node. A build node has connectivity to the internet and can access the Wolfram web-site to download paclets which are then installed in  the ~/.Mathematica directory.

srun -p build  --time=1:00:00 --mem=100G  --pty /bin/bash

module load mathematica_11.2

mathematica

Wait for ten minutes to let mathematica download the paclets. Then exit the build node and go to your own nodes using below steps:

srun -p xyz  --time=4:00:00 --mem=100G  --pty /bin/bash

module load mathematica_11.2
